Cemetery Blessings Held Across Our Parish Communities: Remembering the Legacy of Faithful Generations

This weekend, our parish communities gathered in prayerful remembrance of the departed faithful during the traditional cemetery blessings following All Souls Saturday and Pentecost Sunday.

On All Souls Saturday, May 23, Fr. Stepan blessed St. Mary’s Cemetery, St. Demetrius Cemetery, and the Orthodox Cemetery of Sts. Peter and Paul. On Pentecost Sunday, following the 10:00 a.m. Divine Liturgy at St. John’s Church, Fr. Stepan blessed St. John’s Cemetery in Belfield and St. Josaphat Cemetery in Gorham.

These cemetery blessings are not only a prayer for those who have gone before us, but also a reminder of the spiritual legacy they left behind. The crosses, graves, and names written on these sacred grounds tell the story of generations who built our churches, preserved the faith, and handed on Christian traditions to their children and grandchildren.

As we prayed together among the resting places of our loved ones, we were reminded that faith, family, sacrifice, and prayer continue to unite our parish communities across generations. May we honor their memory not only with flowers and visits, but by continuing to live the faith they cherished so deeply.

Vichnaya Pamyat! Eternal Memory!
