Blessing of the New Processional Cross and Ripidias at St. Demetrius Parish

On Sunday, November 16, before the beginning of the Divine Liturgy, our parish family at St. Demetrius witnessed a beautiful and uplifting moment: the blessing and introduction into use of a new Processional Cross and Ripidias. These sacred items were generously donated by Jordan Lammers, whose love for the Church and commitment to beautifying our parish are sincerely appreciated. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to him for this meaningful gift.

We also express our warm thanks to Gerry Grosulak, who ensured that the Ripidias and the Cross received solid bases and proper supports. His careful work and dedication have helped create something that will serve our parish liturgical life for many years.

The story behind the materials used is especially touching.Rather than purchasing new wood, we used trees that were recently removed from the grounds of St. Demetrius during a clean-up project. These trees were originally planted many years ago by Father Bobersky, and now, transformed and renewed, they continue to serve the parish in a sacred way.

Through this act, we honor the legacy of past generations and remember the pastoral care of Father Bobersky, whose efforts still bear fruit in our community. The new Processional Cross and Ripidias now stand as a tangible reminder that our parish is a living tradition, shaped by the faith and generosity of those who have come before us.

May these new liturgical items inspire us to carry the Cross with faith, uplift our hearts to God, and continue building up the life of St. Demetrius Parish with the same devotion shown by our benefactors.
