On Sunday, following the Divine Liturgy, our parish family came together for a special and long-awaited moment — the blessing of our new parish hymnals, Sing to Our God. This meaningful event marked not only the arrival of beautifully printed books, but also the beginning of a new chapter in our parish’s liturgical life.
For over 45 years, we have sung from hymnals lovingly compiled within our community — humble, self-made collections of cherished hymns that accompanied generations through liturgies, feast days, weddings, and funerals. These old hymnals, though worn and faded with time, hold a sacred place in our parish history. They carried our voices in praise, thanksgiving, and hope for nearly half a century.
Now, with great joy and gratitude, we welcome Sing to Our God — a professionally designed and thoughtfully structured hymnal created with the needs of our bilingual Ukrainian-American parish in mind. Each hymn includes:
🎶 Musical notation for ease of singing in unison or harmony
🇺🇸 English text to support full participation in the Liturgy
🇺🇦 Ukrainian text that preserves our spiritual and cultural heritage
🔤 English transliteration of the Ukrainian text, to help non-Ukrainian speakers join confidently in song
These additions reflect our commitment to inclusion, understanding, and shared worship — allowing everyone, regardless of language fluency, to lift their voice in unity and devotion.
As we open these new books and begin to sing from their pages, we do so with hope and gratitude — not only for the beauty of the hymns themselves, but for what they represent: a living, growing, and united community of faith.
May these hymnals serve us well for decades to come. May they help us pray more deeply, sing more joyfully, and gather more closely as one body in Christ.
Sing to our God — for He is good, and His mercy endures forever!
